Three discus circles and two javelin runways allow for flexibility dependent on the wind direction. The facility features a 30-foot UCS hammer cage that can also double for the discus, providing optimal safety for all contestants while also highlighting the throwing events by allowing them to be contested inside the track. Ruter Track and Field Complex can be contested on the infield. In the opposite D-zone, space exists for two high jump areas, also allowing for time efficiency in a meet situation. Similarly, the facility has a pair of dual-pit parallel pole vault runways in one D-zone. The complex features a pair of dual-pit parallel jump runways for the long and triple jump events along the home stretch, allowing men and women to compete at the same time while also taking advantage of wind direction. WEHS and Greenwood will be partnering in two fund raising events to fund the meets at WKU.
Highlighted by an eight-lane Defargo track surface, the facility houses a number of amenities to give Hilltopper and Lady Topper athletes, as well as the WKU and Bowling Green communities, a top-rate track and facility for practice and competition. Warren East and Greenwood will co-host will host the SKY Conference Meet Saturday, May 7. The date for this meet has been moved from Friday night to Saturday to use the WKU facility. Warren East will host the Raider Classic Saturday, April 23rd. Greenwood will host the Great Gator on Saturday, April 16th. The middle school track team travels to South Warren for a running only track meet and the Varsity track team travels to Bowling Green High Thursday. Other top finishers for the boys were: 4×100 – 7th, 4×400 – 5th, boy’s sprint medley 4th, boy’s distance medley 7th. Other top finishers on the girls team were: 8th grader Kailey Dodd – 4th in the 1500m run, 4×100 teams – 5th and 6th, Girl’s sprint medley ‘b’ team – 6th, Girl’s distance medley – 6th, 7th grader Shelby Chobot – 4th in the triple jump, 8th grader Destiny Pippen – 8th in shot put.ĭalton Whitney placed 3rd in the boy’s triple jump. Nicole Hopkins finished second in the girl’s pentathlon, winning the 200m sprint and the 800m run and finishing second in the long jump, shot put, and high jump. Mikka Willis won the girl’s discus and finished 4th in the girl’s Shot Put. It was an impressive showing for Warren East as the Lady Raiders finished 6th out of 13 as a team scoring 55 points. The girls’ team placed 2nd finishing 6 points behind Daviess County and the boys finished 5th scoring 44 points. The Raiders and Lady Raiders traveled to Muhlenburg County Thursday night for a meet with Daviess County, Fort Campbell, Greenwood, Logan County, and Muhlenburg County.
